i called with an emergency, not only was i lied to by that lady that answered the called but i did not get the help i needed at that moment of urgency
I was admitted to Poortview on a Tuesday morning with the promise that I would see Dr Shawni and my psychologist Fantine Nel on the same day. I didn’t see either of them. I then after extended periods and doing my own searching for answers became aware that neither of them were in on Wednesdays. Bear in mind that I am self employed so time is money and i thus wasted 2 of my in hospital days just sitting there, which I could have done at home.
Furthermore, I was given no changes to my existing medication for this period despite being obviously admitted to a psychiatric hospital in significant distress. So all in all they did nothing for 2 days that my medical aid paid for, and were a complete waste of money.
Nobody had any empathy when I had a complete breakdown in this regard and were cold and dismissive of me. Promises for tomorrow have been made but I have little faith that they will be upheld.
Don’t go to this facility if they might mess up. You will quickly become a pariah and treated with disdain. I am more traumatized having gone here than before I did.
My stay was beautiful, peaceful and insightful. I would like to highly recommend this place. It helped me regain my strength and see life is a completely different light. From the amazing nurses, Drs, psychologists and social workers. I pray more people could go experience that atmosphere. Healing and restoration. ♥️ I encourage anyone reading this to embark on this journey, it is absolutely worth it.
