I do enjoy being in my own space and privacy so it was a little bit of a mind adjustment knowing that I would be booked into Poortview for some personal issues and having to share a room. Most of the nursing staff are exceptionally friendly and always willing to help. The biggest frustration during my 2 week stay there is that our ward was moved 3 times due to lack of patients and therefore they shut the wards down over the weekend and moved the men into the female wards, also, we were 5 men in a single ward with only a bath and no shower. My frustration was expressed to the unit manager as well as the hospital manager and although they acknowledged the inconvenience, they could not do much about it. Most of the meals were really good with one or 2 being an exception. I would suggest future patients to ask nurses and staff anything you are unsure of, especially when it comes to getting medication as I know from a surgical hospital, nurses would generally come to your ward for vitals and to give medicine, where here you go to the duty station for your meds.
My overall experience was a very pleasant one, I do hope for my own well-being I do not go back but I would definitely recommend the facility to anyone that is in need of help.
Good hospital , good staff
I have been at Life Poortview for almost three days and i have asked to move rooms seeing as people were being discharged to go home and i was beginning to be the only person in the ward i was assigned to, but was shouted at for asking, but was telling i would be moved the next day and after reminding them about the situation, they would come up with excuses as to why i couldn’t move and i am very upset and disappointed with the service.
I took my troubled teen there for evaluation and treatment, nothing was communicated to us, my teen was discharged early and is worse of than he was when I took him in. The doctors have no clue as to what they’re doing. They gave us no advice, no help and no diagnosis. None of the questions I had could be answered. They took my money and gave me nothing in turn. A rip-off and criminal organization. Would much rather recommend akeso clinics as a positive alternative. Do not use this place They will not help you.
