I left Casualty the same as I came. The doctor refused to manage the pain as per Pain Management policies. The doctor denied the patient full access to a HealthCare service that she deserved and needed. The doctor caused unnecessary debt accumulation.
I am young woman living with Fibromyalagia.
Fibromyalgia is a disorder that causes widespread chronic pain and tenderness. According to the American College of Rheumatology, fibro (as many patients call it) is more common in women than in men and also common among people with arthritis or chronic pain, such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, or lupus. Fibromyalgia can occur at any age but most often first strikes in middle age.
Doctors don’t know exactly what causes fibromyalgia, but they know that the condition is not due to an autoimmune disease, systemic inflammation, or physical joint or muscle disorder.

Last night I had excruciating pain that I visited Olivedale Hospital just for Pain relief.
The doctor there told me the following:
1.There was nothing she could do for her.
2. Her condition is in the mind
3. She needed to visit the Psychiatrist.
The doctor administered the first line intravenous pain medication and told the patient to go home to see the Pain specialist.
The pain was not better at the time.
My family called the Night Manager who was on duty expressing our concern.
There was no extra help offered.
I was given a prescription to buy medication and go home.
My concerns
1. I left casualty feeling the same as when I arrived and the doctor, manager and hospital staff were fine with that.
2. The doctor was very rude. She kept telling me that I am NOT SICK IN THE BODY , BUT IN THE MIND.
3. The manager could not advocate for me as a patient even where he was asked to.
4. The doctor did blood tests that the patient had told her there will not be any reason for that because she has a formal diagnosis of FIBROMYLAGIA which does not show on any blood results.
5. My severe pain was not properly managed at all.
As a family we do not agree to pay for services that were NOT rendered
This hospital is a fraud, they overcharged my medical aid, I went to the hospital for something minor and they prescribed me meds for people who are on chemotherapy??? What the hell is this? I did not even get my blood results. I’m taking this further… And I will NEVER set foot there
I will never , ever go back to that ER. Ever.
One star because the lady at reception was nice despite my frustration by the time I left.
If it wasn’t for her it would be a 0.
