Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital

I had heard a few adverse stories about this hospital , but having been a patient there recently I have no problem in saying I had a great experience , clean , everyone is so friendly and helpful , even had good food , I would recommend the hospital should you need to be admitted

So happy with the whole experience from the security guard at the entrance to the car park. He noticed it was an emergency as my daughter was crying and radioed up to the guard at the top and then the staff in the er were outstanding!!! They took her in immediately and sorted her out. She had a dislocated elbow and was in a lot of pain! They are really outstanding and I highly recommend taking your children there! 💯

3-6 May 2024 – Staff did not update the file and almost gave a double dose of pain medication for a baby. As you all are aware this could lead to DEATH. When we confronted the nurse and head of this section we were promise a full report. As it’s now a month later and we have received nothing. As this is a very serous matter and I would like to have feedback ASAP.

28 May 2024- Bloods got lost. It is very traumatic for a baby to draw blood. We had to it twice in 4 hours because the first blood sample was lost. When we confronted Lancet they started to blame the nurses on the duty, and the nurses in their turn blamed Lancet. I found this very unprofessional and to put a 8 month baby through this twice is UNACCEPTABLE. The nurse, Elize on duty promise to give us a full report on this matter ASAP. Still no feedback on the 2nd of June 2024.

These incidents have caused me significant distress and have undermined my confidence in the healthcare services provided by Life Wilgeheuwel.

Presious in night shift lady in section 7 is a real asset to the hospital.The way she treated the elderly in the same room, was remarkable.

This is her calling to look after people in need, always a smile even though some of the elders give her a hard time she still manage to win them over with her charm, smiles and jokes..withbpain you will still laugh at her.

She is a real asset and many more people that interact with her in the past will know what I’m talking about .

Was admitted on 12/04/24

Main complan flu and was only treated for it on the 15/04/24.

I was told at casualty that they can’t treat me since I was 30 weeks pregnant so I had to go to maternity ward…. the nurses spoke amongst them selfs as to who to call, the one lady said just call the gynecologist and I asked do I have to see 1 because I’m here for flu? I was ignored and was sent to maternity. I got there was seen by sister lerato who asked me what was I there for… I told her I have flu. Then she was in contact with the gynecologist and she told her what to do. Let me cut the long story short. I wasn’t treated for flue but only focused on the baby even after I mentioned that I don’t have contractions and my baby is moving normally. On Monday the 15th I was forced to go to theater for emergency c section. The dr said she’s not going to listen to me and told the staff to prep me and bring me to theater, then said to me I’m going to save that baby’s life I’m not listening to you I don’t wanna lose my license. Today as I type this I’m heart broken as I buried my baby on the 04/05/24 my baby was healthy for a week she got sick on the 22/04/24 whilst in hospital. Never got a chance to hold her in my arms. Oh I was only treated for flu after the baby was taken out and that was on the 15/04/24 after asking several times if I was being treated for flu. I’ll always appreciate sister lindiwe and sister Mildred for the videos and photos shent and also sister Mildred as i was isolated from baby for a week. Thank you ladies. Dr H the surgeon Thank you for trying 🙏 and thank you for being transparent with daddy and I you honestly tried and I’ll always appreciate you for that.i believe if you were informed in time about her situation shed still be here with us.💔

The nurses and other staff members from maternity ward were all great and helpful.
