I had the worst experience. I came to the hospital because of severe pain. I sat and waited about 1hour and 40 minutes until I was the only one left from all the people thay waited while sitting and visually crying of unbearable pain. Another couple entered and the nurse called out my name to be checked in the room before seeing a doctor. Keep in mind that about 20 patients have been helped before me which I understand because they were before me, she called my name and then said wait, who was here first (after passing me for an hour and 40 min). She (nurse Gugu) did not ask any other patient this and even saw a patient before me that came in after me. The receptionist even told her I had to be next because I was there before him.
I told her I was here and she responded with no need to be rude my darling (while I am crying off pain).
Once the dr came (did not introduce herself, just waited for me to speak), I explained my sitiation and she did not take me seriously at all. She said she cannot help me because pain is not a medical condition. She should absolutely not be a dr. She did not offer any solutions. She also did not ask me what type of medication I have tried et. She seemed like I was annoying her with my pain and did not really want to deal with me. Even saying that she believes I have herpes. She spent maybe at most 45 seconds looking the area and believed it is herpies. When I went to 4 highly qualified dr before her who could not tell me what it is. One saying he has never seem something like it his 40 years. But she as young as she is looked at it under 1 min and believed it is herpes. I asked to be checked in to manage pain and inflammation until I could see dermatologist next day. She said the EC manager said they can’t, it is not a medical problem. Did not even come to look. On the way home I vommited twice, and was in severe shock, pain and shaking throughout the night.
After I asked for anything else for pain they told me that the hospital does not have any numbing cream. I asked can she please write the name down for me and she said yes, I have to go to the pharmacy. She did not offer any suggestions, I have never received this type of service at any dr. Let alone a HOSPITAL!!!
I saw a very respected and well known dermatologist took 3 biopies the next day because another dr. Took me seriously. He took 3 biopsies and I have extreme eczema with infection. How is this not a medical problem. Both the check in nurse and the dr. was so condecending. Both passed me for almost 2 hours, the receptionist asked them if I can have anything for pain so long and they said no.
I was in extreme pain. I will be laying an official complaint and expect feedback as to how this was dealt with.
I will also lay a complaint at discovery and ask them to check your reviews as most confirm the type of service I also received.
And this little feedback copy and paste will not do. “We take professionalism very seriously and hold ourselves to high standards. We would appreciate an opportunity to contact you”
Seeing how far back the negative feedback on facebook, hello peter and google reviews go, it does not seem that anything is taken seriously, you do not hold to the highest standard or take professiolism seriously.
Panorama Mediclinic has to be the very worst hospital I have ever been to. I arrived in the ward at 18.45 after my procedure and the nurses were asked to bring me a hot meal of soft food as I had not eaten since the previous evening. Despite numerous repeated requests as well as using the call bell to try to summon someone to bring me food -any food-I eventually – after bursting into tears – got a meal at 21.15! I waited 2,5 hours for a meal and a cup of tea. In addition to this, I was given pain tablets but could not get a single nurse to bring me water to swallow them with. This meant that I had to wait 2,5 hours before I could take painkillers after an operation. Throughout the night it was pretty much impossible to get the attention of any nurse despite my reading light being on all night and call bell being rung-there was absolutely no sense of urgency and certainly no compassion amongst any of the staff. Getting discharged was the final straw! A really unpleasant experience. The only positive is that it was clean.
I was transferred from a different hospital on Sunday approximately 02:30 am. The hospital was neat and tidy and I was attended to subsequently. The only negative issue (hence the 4 stars) that I faced was on the day of being discharged. Even though my order was given the day prior, at around 08:30 am I was told that I was not permitted to eat. How, when I ate after my surgery yesterday and my surgery was Gynaelogical not abdominal or throat related? The amazing Mrs D Basson stepped in and eventually I got to eat. It’s not my first time at a private hospital and I know how Nil per oral/ nil per mouth works, I don’t see how it applies to my situation but alas…
I went to Panorama for a procedure and experienced the following:
-Racism
-Deprivation of a glass of water after returning to the ward after my procedure (I asked 4 different people and had to wait 45 minutes before finally receiving it)
-Billing issue where I was overcharged
-Nurses/ward staff taking 3 hours before calling the doctor after I asked (he confirmed that they did not call him)
I mentioned all of this in the survey sent to me after I left the hospital yet no-one got back to me. After 6 days, I phoned in and detailed all of this to Robyn from the complaints department.
