o We went to this emergency room because my baby’s paediatrician practices at the hospital and sometimes she would be on call.
o My 1 year 9-month-old baby had a fever of almost 40°C.
o We completed the admission process, but unlike other emergency rooms, my baby’s vitals were not checked immediately. Instead, we had to wait.
o After waiting for almost an hour, we asked the receptionist how long it would take.
o The receptionist explained that they usually check patients and determine the urgency of their situation.
o Concerned about my baby’s worsening condition, I insisted on having a nurse check my baby.
o As expected, my baby had a high fever, and the nurse prioritized her to be seen by the doctor.
o In the examination room, we were asked the same questions again.
o I informed the doctor that my baby’s paediatrician was at the hospital and provided her name.
o The doctor said he would call her.
o Blood work and a swab were done.
o The results showed that my baby had an infection.
o We were released with a prescription.
o The next day, my baby’s temperature spiked again.
o We took her to her regular doctor, who confirmed that she should have been admitted and put on a drip.
o Surprisingly, my baby’s doctor was on duty that night but was never contacted by the emergency room.
o We decided never to visit this emergency room again.
Gosh… what an amazing experience, I don’t know the nursing staff and doctor that attended to my wife, today in casualty, we felt cared for, the passion of the staff made my wife relax, the staff drawing blood sooo professional the doctor super amazing
For once in a hospital, we felt like humans again, passionate staff, that really love the calling on their lives, not just a mere job
Thank you casualty doctor, and the entire team that attended to my wife
Gob bless you all
Good morning
I was taken to Pretoria East Hospital via ambulace early sundayorning after surviving a very bad car crash
i received treament quite quickly at the emergency room because i was the only one there
did exrays and sonars and the doctor prescribed pain medication and released me
problem is. i could not walk or stand on my foot. i had no one to come and help me and ALL the nurses and hospital staff around me in the ER were sitting/lying around playing on their cellphones
looking up at me literally dragging myself from one end to the next
i was told by the reception to “come here” and i said im haaving trouble walking and she said to me “huh”
then i had to cling to the bushes outside the hospital to get to the pharmacy to get my pain meds
NO ONE at the hospital helped me and the doctor didnt give me a crutch or moonboot or nothing for whatever reason
im still at home and still in pain even worse because i had to drag myself through bushes at netcare pretoria east private hospital so that your nurses and staff can sit and watch tick tocks on their phones
i urge you to pull the security camera footage and review everything that im complaining about
