My stay at Milpark hospital was very good. I spent a whole day in “Reception”Area waiting for a bed. There service was God and the staff very caring. I had had 2 strokes and was quite our of it. Eventually I went to ward 2. Very caring nursing staff bur not quick to answer the “help button” which grieved me no end as I couldn’t stand, much less walk. After all the tests and exrays and Angiograms were done it was found that I needed Stent in my heart. A very competent Cardiologhist did this procedure and I feel good. My treatment was amazing and if youhave Med Aid available to you, it is great. However, for your nearest and dearest to come and visit you, costs a s.all fortune, what with petrol and the Parking varying from R2000
I was admitted to the ICU unit at Neuro after brain Surgery 16 April 2024 and my experience was one of the worst at any the hospitals since my fight with Cancer
Staff at the unit was ignoring my request as well as my neurosurgeons I constantly had to make sure that they did what was asked of them to ensure I recovered but I had enough when the catitor kinked and it felt like my bladder almost burst fortunately the matron was called on my request as the staff IGNORED me multiple times and had inconsistent information about visiting.
I was tied to a bed to manage my vitals and could not help myself only on the 3rd day after I complained it was determined that my call button was not working and again I visited unit a month later staff had no secondment on place and patients are left alone in almost every room i am still traumatised and wish I could do more
Hi Fihliwe,
I’m reaching out to you at 2pm on the 2 July after being in ICU here at Millpark hospital . We all believe it to be the best hospital in JHB. The last few night here in ICU I personally have called , as there are no buttons working in my station and begged for water as I was so thirsty and ignored.
Praise Jesus tonight on my fourth day I was strong enough to get up when I was woken by an elderly gentleman begging for assistance.
As I got up – each and every staff member was sitting down at there station doing NOTHING other than ignoring this old man. They were not busy. And all he wanted was someone to help him adjust his bed so he could sit up and possibly go irinate. Whether or not he had a urine bag I just turned around and looked at the entire team as they were now standing there to help and said you disgust me. Honestly.
I requested the names of everyone on shift. As they are all equally responsible for ignoring the gentleman’s pleas.
They are also incredibly unfortunate that I am a part owner in a Media House and this type of treatment whilst in ICU is implorable.
Thank goodness I am growing stronger- and I will forever be grateful to the staff that saved my life. However this is just not acceptable.
Please contact me urgently as this may not carry on as the standard of Netcare nor the standard of Netcare Millpark.
Thanks,
Bianca Emmerick
I visited a patient last night 28/6/24 at 7pm the security was very friendly and helpful, directed me where to go. Nursing staff are also very helpful and escorted me to ICU. Thank you Milpark hospital. Keep up the good work.
