Although I am aware of the challenges associated with nursing as a career, the nursing care at Life Die Wilgers Ward 3 was extremely disappointing. I developed a severe migraine after my operation during my stay at the hospital. Also, my wound did not drain into the pump but all over my clothing and the bed linen. The kitchen and junior staff, who were not allowed to attend to my wound, were caring and kind, and attended to replacement of linen and my clothes and tried to assist. However, most of the senior nursing staff (with the exception of one kind lady) was unfriendly, and left my wound unattended and me lying in blood-soaked clothes and linen for the most of two days. After day 2 of having the migraine, the senior nurse shouted at me and made me hold the drip bottle with the IV fluid in my left hand instead of hooking it onto the bed. It was a very traumatic stay purely because of the nursing care.
The Stuff at triage were excellent but finished there by 17:31 then had to wait for the doctor till 20:10, Was informed that I’m gonna be admitted and moved to Pretoria East Hospital by 21:10. The time now is 00:16 & I’m still at the hospital without food being provided!!!

The staff is very nice. However, the hospital is not very professional. The doctor during the checkup gave me a different diagnosis than the first one. As well, they wrote all my details wrong in their system (while they could have read my names in my passport). This gave me some issues with my insurance.
I confirmed the last time if everything was paid, and the receptionist said all bills were settled. Only to get a debt collector a few months later running after me for 300 rand…
