I had a distressing experience at Wilgers Hospital’s emergency room. I arrived with severe abdominal pain that was so intense I nearly passed out. Despite the urgency of my situation, the response was exceedingly slow, and by the time I was attended to, the pain had subsided. The staff incorrectly assumed I was pregnant, despite my clear explanation and recent confirmation from my gynecologist that I was not. After a pregnancy test confirmed this, they still had no answers for my pain and instructed me to return if it recurs. To make matters worse, I did not receive any medication or even a basic necessity like water, yet I was charged R874.14
With 6 years of doctors visits and hospital stays I can 100% say that the nurses here do not care for their patients in oncology. Wheelchair and jacket went missing in between transfers of wards no feedback or apologies and no respect or empathy for the dying or their family
