NOW 1 STAR BECAUSE THEY NEVER RESPOND TO COMPLAINTS. They send you a weblink which gives you a ref no that is never followed up! Extremely disappointed in the total lack of care exhibited to the security of personal possessions, which I have mentioned in 2 surveys without receiving any feedback. During pre-admittance I was assured there were safes behind every bed to store valuables. On admittance I repeatedly asked for the safe to be opened to store my cellphone and powerbank, but was ignored. Minutes before being wheeled off to surgery I insisted on storing my valuables safely, but this was denied and the sister just said she would keep them in her locker. No custody documentation or any proof that I was forced to hand over these items, which left me in a severely anxious state just prior to surgery.
Children ward, toilets are old and rusted bath, water on the floor. Staff can’t set Aircon to accommodate everyone, even when made aware of the coldness in the room.
Admissions is efficient and prompt and very welcoming.
General hospital nurses are really great; kind, caring and supportive.
Food is good; but externally catered so sometimes just warm instead of hot, and not very “fresh”.
Doctors are really good, explain procedures well, and OR staff are efficient and helpful.
One point to note is that – with all the latest building alterations the signage doesn’t work…it is VERY easy to get lost and wander around for ages trying to find doctor’s rooms and other services such as radiology.
Emergency room staff are uncaring, though, and don’t listen to patients. I found them to be overly rushed and do not engage. Had a really irritating experience with the A&E nursing staff; they are definitely NOT the best! A&E doctors are great!
When I walked into the trauma reception, I was beside myself with worry, but the doctors were very attentive to what I was experiencing and attended to all my worries and confirmed everything with tests and scans. Special mention to Thabo and Dr Tyrone, they were amazing.
I’m the grandmother here and I’m not satisfied with the service, especially when it involves a minor, my grandson is under 3yrs and had to go in for circumcision today Mon, the poor child stopped eating before 07h30 and it’s now 13h30 still not attended to, the poor child is hungry and agitated, this is quite long hours for a child
