Thank you so much for the hospitality. It was like a home to me all my pain and tears we washed away. Lossing a child is not easy but all staff manage to put me easy and encourage me.thank you for taking care of me so diligently and professionally, whilst I was recovering from my surgery.”thank you for being by my beside during my treatment and putting a smile on my face when I was feeling worried.”
If you live in the BENONI area please don’t waste your time with lakeview netcare. They don’t have an emergency facility (it’s an after hours private practice at rates of their choice). The hospital itself would be beter run by artificial intelligence. They do not have scan machines etc so at your cost you will be transported by ambulance to have them done at another hospital. All this is is a drain on your medical aid and if you lucky enough to leave alive you still don’t have a diagnosis. Avoid at all cost.
I am shocked that the Lakeview Hospital would advertise a 24hr emergency casualty ward, when clearly they don’t know what to do. On 17 September 2023 I rushed my 16yr old daughter to the ER with a temperature of 41°. She was dilarious and was passing out. She had returned from a school camp with a fungal infection. Firstly there is a reception, but then they turn you to the nurses station, which has a desk and a chair pushed into a corner. The nurses were on a slow strike. They were friendly, but as a parent in a frantic state with a sick child, it seems like they were just there to do their jobs with no extra care. The Dr was also friendly and calm, but …. They put my daughter on a drip and got the lab out to come and draw blood. They stabalised my daughter. The Dr then said she would need to be admitted. I went to reception (she was just finishing off her private phone call on her cellphone, so I had to wait a bit) she then sat back in her chair and said, sorry we don’t except your Medical aid. I went back to the ER and told the Dr, he then said, I should take my daughter and go to Glynwood. So i paid R2500 at the Lakeview Hospital and was off to the Glynwood. When we got to Glynwood, they said my daughter has to go to triage. The medical aid then refused to give authorisation, because there is nothing wrong with my daughters vitals. I then told them she had just been stabalised at the Lakeview and the Dr sent us here for admission. They asked for another R2700 and they would have to draw blood again. Eventually after long discussions and tears, the Glynwood told us to head back to The Lakeview Hospital, because they must get the results for the blood tests and the Dr should from there, discuss the plan of action. Still driving around after 00h00 with my daughter in the car from hospital to hospital, we finally got the blood results and the Dr just said, you can go home. I mean, from being sent to another hospital(driving ourselves)because she needs to be admitted, to its fine, you can go home.
So where does the problem lie? Was it Lakeview Hospital not being able and capable of handling Emergency situations or Glynwood Hospital wanting to restart the whole process or the medical aid not wanting to cover anything now?
Now I have to battle to get an invoice from lakeview to claim back from my medical aid. 2 weeks now and I had an answer this morning of, “our systems don’t do invoices, only estimates and statements! So now I am losing my money, because you also can’t give me an invoice. Incompetent! Unprofessional!
Hospital staff is extremely slow and does not care from admin staff to nurse to doctor. Nobody will have concern for you. Even when doctors are not busy they take extremely long to actually examine you. We’ve been here for a hour now still not attended to even though the floor is empty, no blood pressure check NOTHING. They still even havent asked us why we are here. Its 9pm people dont go for fun to hospital They do not care for the patients at all. Even when we tried to communicate with the doctor, we were completely ignored by him. For emergency please do not go to this hospital. The doctor will be busy on the phone with personal matters whilest you’re dying in pain and not even show the slightest concern foryou. This is by far the worse treatment I’ve received.v level of care is very low. So disappointing for a private hospital
The nurses are awesome in the Medical ward however as a paraplegic i can say it’s not wheelchair accessible in the bathrooms
I was left at radiology for over an hour waiting for someone to come and assist me back to my ward
The doctors took over a week to get back to me over some results and they are very slow overall the Medical ward nurses are absolutely awesome Day and night staff they were so helpful and kind and very understanding
