Mediclinic Emfuleni Hospital

I was there on Monday for a procedure. Your service in the ward was very good as well as the food. Thanks a lot to dr Malindi and his team. Will highly recommend this hospital

*** Update*** – Received a call from the Critical Care Unit Matron who told me that the reason for the bad Care and Service received in the Critical care Unit was most probably because people do not listen to instructions. Excuse me??? What terrible reasoning is that? Why are the nursing staff not “listening”;then not reprimanded? It just again highlight the lack of responsibility and care in the Critical Care unit of this hospital. Nothing said has however changed the outcome.

I would NOT recommend making use of Emfuleni-Medi Clinic Hospital. The service and care received from especially the personnel in the emergency department and the majority of the nursing staff in the Critical Care unit where my sister was for almost three weeks, were substandard and shocking to say the least. To name a few, the following were some of the issues encountered: No efficient handover between shifts to ensure continuous care or to follow doctors instructions, not providing the required medication and feeding supplements that was prescribed by the doctor or dietitian, not ensuring that the patient actually ate (a lot of the times when we visited around 15:00 in the afternoon my sister still did not have lunch. the food was just placed next to her bed even though she was unable to feed herself) leaving the bedding wet after bathing the patient, not being able to provide any feedback as to the progress of the patient or the prescribed treatments, leaving alarms and bells ringing without attending to see what is wrong sometimes up to 20 mins whilst the nurses were standing at the nurses station chatting and having coffee, allowing up to 5 visitors to a patient in Critical Care even though only 2 are allowed, making so much noise that there are no way any patient could have rest and recouperate, leaving the family waiting for up to 4 hours after the patient received emergency surgery even though the patient were back in the room just to tell them you can come back in three hours because it is now resting time for patients. I can go on and on and on, but if you want your family to receive the care that you pay for (which is very expensive) DO NOT make use of Emfuleni Medi-CLinic.

This was the worst service I have ever received in my life. Not only should you teach your staff to speak and understand English. You can teach them manners as well. The experience I had at your casualty with your night shift staff was the same service I would have received from a Government Hospital. After talking to a few colleagues and friends about my experience it has come to light that this is the same terrible service everyone receives at your hospital. I am disgusted to say the least.

We usually go to Cormed for a reason. Because they are the best. However after today. We have a 50/50 on number 1 spot. Emfuleni…. you guys are outstanding. We arrived with our 1 year old daughter at casualties at 02H30 this morning. We were welcomed with smiles and EMMEDIATE assistance, from reception, to nurses. We waited no longer than 10 minutes for the doctor on duty. Sorry if I cant remember your name. But he was so patient with all our questions. Took the time to explain. We will definitely (hopefully not) come back to Emfuleni. Keep up the good work guys. Really. 10 stars. O yes….. and affordable.
