Brilliant hospital

The maternity ward at the Glynwood is neat and clean. The rooms are quite small compared to other maternity ward, however, they do appear to be more modern than some of the other hospitals.

We’ve been here twice in the last 3 weeks. The first time, the nursing staff really seemed quite pleasant. They were caring and and really seemed to take a keen interest in my wife and her issue. This time, the nurses seem much older. They also seem very disinterested and are really dragging their feet around the ward. I get the sense that we are just another number and they are almost resistant to helping when compared to the last lot of nurses.

I’ve never had a good experience with any of the security people managing the entrance to the maternity ward. They always seem extremely mixed out that they have to key in the code to open the door. Perhaps they are just underpaid and unhappy that they have to work night shift?

The recovery rooms seem really comfortable. Overall, the place is okay. I wouldn’t call it a world class experience. In general, I find little value for money from private healthcare in South Africa – the maternity ward at the Glynwood hospital is no exception.
