Facilities and services are top notch. The evening of 12 August 2024 was the third time I was bringing one of my children to the Radiology Department. Once inside the building, I cannot complain. My only concern was my experience with the security guards that were manning the parking garage entrance. In the evening, the garage door is closed. When we explained that we were here for an x-ray they tried to turn us away-three times- saying that we needed an appointment first. We had explained that we had a referral and this was an emergency x-ray required for a baby. It was a struggle but eventually we were allowed in. An unnecessary inconvenience, particularly under the circumstances.
Beautiful hospital, great Dr’s and staff, BUT the charges are inexplicably exorbitant and completely unaffordable. My medical aid has advised that most of the charges are invalid and for non-chargable items. We got charged for a full day when we were only there for 5 hrs and only 17% of the charges are at medical aid rates. And this is over and above what we have to pay in for the surgeon and anethetist. Suruely if a hospital feels it is justified to charge such exhorbitant amounts that they should be transapart and a request pre-approval from medical aids before misleading patients to visit this hospital.
