Good health care for all of us
In most occasions, we indulge in criticism and shy away when we need to applaud good deeds. I visited Hlengisizwe PHC in September 2021 for the first time. It was in the early hours of the morning, at around 3am when I had an asthma attack, post Covid-19.
I was treated with so much dignity and respect. The nurses were so friendly and helpful. They even educated me more on Covid-19’s after effects.
You can be gravely ill but it’s comforting when health workers seem to understand you and show some sympathy.
I visited the clinic again last night (12/03/2022) as my daughter needed some urgent health care after she burnt her hand while cooking.
Rapid response from the security guards, to nurses who took vital signs, to the clerk who opened the file, and finally the sisters who dressed her wounds and prescribed medication. Everyone was so warm.
Batho Pele Principles are religiously executed in this institution. We spent less than an hour but got all the assistance we needed and went back home so happy and relieved.
