Care Reflections

Patients often commend the dedicated and polite staff, particularly in the Surgical ICU and maternity ward, for providing outstanding care with empathy and professionalism. The cleanliness and internal amenities, like the onsite laboratory and businesses, enhance the patient experience. To further elevate patient satisfaction, improving wait times and elevator efficiency could be beneficial.

There is a nurse in the maternity ward who can’t speak to patients and shouts anyhow for no Reason I was admitted in the maternity ward they gave me pills I did not know I was allergic to and when I told her she said I have an attitude and kept shouting at me she even called my mother and said I am being rude so if I’m crying in pain is it being rude? Or it’s the hospital policy for her to treat patients like this 💔

Then it’s the nurses which are night shift they are like sweethearts ❤️‍🩹

My daughter was brought into trauma on Saturday afternoon. After waiting for long to be attended to, the doctor then wanted to admit her based on her results. Due to personal reasons by previous medical issues, we requested that she not be admitted, and that we’d rather have treatment to take home and monitor her. The Dr was upset at this. At first the form my mom was given was ticked under “refused treatment” which was not what we did, we refused admission. They then changed it. My mom then called me and informed me that they were being sent home with no medication or prescription. I found that to be confusing because you cant tell me my child has an infection and needs to be admitted, and when I want treatment for home, you dont prescriber an oral antibiotic to try manage the situation at home? How does that make sense? I then told her to request a script. The nurses were a bit reluctant to ask the doctor because apparently they thought she might be resistant (I’m guessing this has to do with her DISGUSTING attitude which I then had to deal with the next day). She wrote the script. The next day I went too clicks and had problems with the script because the Dr hadn’t written the strength of the antibiotic, they were going to give me the lesser strength which was not going to work. When I called trauma for her to rectify the issue, the nurse asked her for the strength and she told the nurse. I then said how she needed to relay this information on to the pharmacist and requested she take the call. When she picked up the call, her first words were “what do you want?”. I then asked her “is that how you greet your patients? Not how can I help or hello, but what do you want?”. She said “yes if I want to, I have other patients” , so I told her that is quite rude. She responded with “I don’t have to take your call” and hung up. That time I was stuck at clicks with a prescription she wrote incorrectly that I could not fill. I then had to waste my petrol and drive to Isipingo hospital to try get assistance at their pharmacy. Luckily their pharmacist was understanding. I am very UNHAPPY with how that Dr handled herself. I don’t think it’s in line with the oath she took and it’s not in-line with patient care. It is disgusting that a healthcare professional carries herself in that manner, especially towards patients. She definitely brought her profession into disrepute and left a bitter taste in my mouth when it comes to the hospital, which my family has been going to for over 20 years. The worst part is she’s a trauma doctor. She should be focusing that energy she uses to be rude in relearning the basics of prescribing because clearly she’s not polished up. How do you not write the strength of the drug you’re prescribing when it comes in more than 1 strength. So useless. She should not be let anywhere near patients that are ill on emergencies and go give sub-standard service in her personal practice. I will not take this lying down.
