I took my son to the emergency rooms and was treated with absolute disrespect and disregard by the staff and the attending doctor. It’s disappointing that people who are meant to provide a service that we pay for lack respect and empathy.
I am once again disgusted at the treatment received at Fourways Life.
Surprisingly not from the receptionist this time and rather the doctor herself.
I brought my doctor in yesterday at the ER as she has been sick since Monday and no medication seemed to be helping her.
On or around 11am on 27 June 2024, I brought my daughter and was seen by a female doctor who was not at all interested in hearing the situation and I wasted at total of:
R1030 – x-ray
R1095 – ER consult
R192.82 – medication
My daughter has constipation, fever, weakness, and flu symptoms.
She was not getting better hence my wife and I both left our office and brought her in.
We were assisted by a female doctor and when we explained the situation to her, she kept shaking her head and smiling sarcastically as if what we were seeing and experiencing first hand was incorrect.
I asked her if my daughter needs a drip and her response smiling sarcastically was “if you want to traumatize your daughter then sure.”
Eventually she just walked away and sent the nurse back saying that she wants a urine sample, and she wants us to take Zayyanah for an x-ray.
We went for the x-ray and tried taking my daughter to pee in order to get the urine sample about 3 times and my daughter hadn’t drank anything, eaten anything and was unbelievably miserable so we were unable to get the urine sample and when we told the doctor eventually after she came about an hour later while we waited for her or the nurse, her response was well then I cannot help her but ill prescribe medication that will help her for the time being and you will have to bring her back.
In addition, when we asked the doctor about the results of the x-ray she said, “everything is a mess inside”.
I have attached the report mailed to me and please advise if you agree with your ‘so-called’ doctors understanding of the report????
Please take this as if it were your daughter and you get told that she cannot be helped.
Nonetheless, I went to the pharmacy and only got the antibiotic as I already had the other medication at home.
We gave my daughter the medication and she just got sicker.
We took her to HealthWorx in Randridge mall today and were seen by Dr. Atcha and Dr. SIngh where they advised that the antibiotic is the reason she is further constipated.
He failed to understand how a doctor can prescribe that antibiotic knowing she is already constipated.
My question to you is how you would feel with a doctor telling you she cannot help your daughter and prescribing any medication and then having to take her to another healthcare facility and they are able to provide a remarkable service.
ONCE AGAIN, I AM DISGUSTED IN THE LIFE BRAND!
I called in this afternoon and spoke to someone who was in charge to advise of what has happened and this person said she will investigate the matter and provide feedback by Monday morning.
I recieved a call from Urshla saying that none of my statements are true and when they spoke to the doctor, she advised that she only prescribed the antibiotic if she receives the urine sample.
Since when are doctors allowed to prescribe medication that they are not sure of?
Went into A&E Friday afternoon, was in and out of CT and into surgery before the night ended. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, more than could be expected. Staying in for a further 5 days, alone, with all family in Cape Town, everyone was so exceptional and as much I didn’;t want to, I started to feel at home in my little surgical ward with the repeatable bright and happy faces coming in at 2pm, 4am, whenever. Thank you Life Hospital!
Dr Frankel and Sr Lelo in A&E, thank you for amazing and friendly service and comfort! You guys were amazing!
And special thanks to Dr Mark Jose for everything! Fantastic surgeon and physician all round.
Terrible experience I am currently in casualty and was greeted by a very rude lady. Her name is Emily Sihlabi. Absolutely unprofessional.
